Our passion is to combine wood and steel to create an aesthetic in handmade furniture that showcases the best qualites of both materials. We seek to work with reclaimed woods that are no longer serving a purpose as well as traditional American hardwoods.
Everything we do is handmade. We source all materials and complete the entire project with our own hands, from the welds to the trim. Each design is unique and no design is alike.
Most of what we do is focused on the repurposing of historically significant wood. We refer to these woods as 'heritage woods' and they were cut from mature, naturally established forests and trees to build structures for the early development of the United States. These woods are hundreds of years old and were typically cut in the late nineteenth century and include settlers' cabins, churches and warehouses. They offer us a connection to the past and bring warmth, character and qualities that can only be found in wood of this age.
The core of our purpose is to responsibly further the life of historic and useful wood in an environmentally conscience manner. We take immense pride in our ability to bring these woods back to functional condition and carefully consider if any finishes are warranted at all. If we do choose to utilize a finish, we only select from a small group of natural options. We don't use toxic substances and pride ourselves on the fact that if one of the products does contain finish, it is environmentally and food safe.
